(From the Fort Scott Tribune, April 8, 1905) Mrs. Mettie J. Hamilton, wife of Robert Hamilton, a farmer who resided four miles southeast of the city in the Catt neighborhood, died last evening at 6 o'clock of childbirth. Mrs. Hamilton delivered a child last Thursday after which she was thrown into convulsions from which she never recovered. Her death is a sad blow to the family and the community. The child is apparently in good health and with the proper attention will live. The deceased was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James P. Scott who are also well known in that community. The deceased was 29 years of age. The funeral was held this afternoon at 1 o'clock conducted by Rev. Newlin. Interment was made in Evergreen Cemetary.
